Am trying to get a REAL ID before my NC driver's license expires in August 2018. The DMV would not accept my Medicare card although I had my passport and valid NC drivers license; said I had to have my SS card. I put it away somewhere and can't locate it. So I need a replacement SS card. Found I can't get it online in North Carolina. Have been waiting on telephone for 40 min trying to get an appointment at local SS Office. What a backward State. Put residents in Catch 22 situation.

Trying to find the status of my application for Medicare B. I'm in my 70's, however, I have worked full time and had company medical coverage continuously until Feb. of this year. In addition my last employer is continuing to pay for my full medical insurance for another year, however, I have been told because of my age I can only use this as secondary to Medicare B.

Initial Medicare B application was retuned stating the REQUEST FOR EMPLOYMENT INFORMATION form was not adequate -- only covered time with last employer and did not go back to my 65th. Contacted my previous employer and had a second form completed in March showing coverage all the way back to 1966. Submitted this form and have been waiting for a response.

Called Medicare and was told I must contact the local SS office directly because Medicare would not have data until the request was scanned locally. Called the local SS number and was somehow branched to a request asking for a 5-digit extension -- don't have one so the call was cancelled.

Just need to know if the process is stopped and if so what do I need to do to have it completed?
