All local Social Security offices will be closed to the public for in-person service starting Tuesday, March 17, 2020. This decision protects the population—older Americans and people with underlying medical conditions—and SSA employees during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. However, SSA is still able to provide critical services.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, SSA is asking the public to first try to use online services before calling. If you cannot use these online services, you can find the phone number for your local office by using our Field Office Locator and looking under Additional Office Information. (Note, if you already had a scheduled appointment with your local office, an employee from that office will attempt to call you at your scheduled appointment time.)

I cannot get hold of anyone!!!! I keep getting letters claiming I did not send a payment for an amount due when I have sent FOUR payments. I am being threatened with wage garnishing and other things. I have obtained a lawyer but I still need to talk to someone

I am having a hard time reporting a fraudulent telephone call I got claiming to be SSA. They said I was being sued for fraud and that there was a legal warrant for my arrest. I hung up right away because I knew it was a scam. The telephone number was 202-058-5079. Now I'm trying to report this and I just keep getting the run-around through SSA's list of choices on their phone lines. The Internet site is no better since there is no choice on there to report fraudulent phone calls.
