I was a walk in both last Nov & again this April. In Nov I was completely brushed off by the guy at the desk. He pointed to a table and told me to read the Medicare book. Someone was walking in and was obviously taken aback by his rudeness and stopped me, suggested I call the # on the back of the booklet. I left furious & frustrated. Felt like I was imposing on them as opposed to being helped. Earlier this month I had been directed by Soc Sec via phone to go to a Soc Sec office because I had received a call on Good Friday a few minutes before noon. No message was left however. My Medicare becomes eff 5-1 and I had not heard back regarding my on line application for the Extra Help program that I had applied for in March so I thought perhaps that was the reason for the call. It was that same day I went to the Owosso office. I was told via the phone conversation with SS that they did not see my on line application. Due to the time sensativity is why they advised me to go to an office and explain what was going on and have them help me. HELP?? LOL I was told to go on line and complete the "simple" app. Again basically the front desk person made me feel like I was imposing and unintelligent. Was told it did me no good for them to help me. It would not get things done any sooner. DUH!!! All I wanted was to get it done and verified my app had been received (the new one I was hoping they would create) I aslo asked for a paper app. Was told they did not have any. BUT GEE amazingly when I stood my ground they found one to give me. All in all very unprofessional and condescending by the front desk person. Finally the following Monday I called the Shiawassee Council for the Aging and on that same day was able to meet with someone who was helpful and answered all my questions etc. I give the Owosso SS office a big fat FAIL rating. I am still upset as I type this and hope others are treated better than I was!

Stacie was incredibly patient and informative during a recent visit...have heard over the years how awful dealing with social security...we may not have liked the answers, but she delivered bad news with genuine concern and professionalism.

What is your correct telephone for the office in Owosso. The one on the web site is incorrect.

I went to the Owasso office because I heard such glowing reports from other people. No waiting, very friendly and helpful. That would have been my experiance if it wasn't for one women I had the unfortunate luck to get two times in a row. She went on and on about people coming from Flint when they have perfectly nice and helpful people working in Flint. The Flint office has a bigger staff than they have in Owasso. There was one person in front of me and one after me waiting. The parking lot was empty. I have been to the one in Flint and could not find a parking space. Yes Flint has a lovely office with friendly people. But it is my right to go to what office I choose. Owasso is 7 minutes further in drive time for me and I was going to do a little shopping. This women put me on the defense and I felt the need to defend my choice of office. I should have asked for her supervisor. Please do not sit there and take it like I did. Stand up for your right to be treated with respect. I don't know what her problem is and don't really care. One time might be a bad day but twice is a problem that needs to be adressed. Owosso may not be busy enough to warrant a larger full time staff. That is for someone else to decide.
