I just got off the phone at the SS office in Clarksville, Tn. I spoke to a man named Christopher. I told him I was 61, Type 2 diabetic, stage 4 kidney disease, HBP, arthritis, nerve damage and I am extremely anemic. I had said I would be eligible for SS retirement in July of 2017. He stated I would get my first check in Sept. He then told me I was not eligible for anything else like SSI because I did not have enough points and my spouse was still working. The reason I do not have enough points (this man did not ask) is because my spouse did 21 years Navy and was deployed all the time. I have a handicapped emotionally disturbed child. She is now 28, and is manic depressive, bi polar and just diagnosed with a form of Aspergers Syndrome. This is the reason I could not work, plus I was diagnosed with Diabetes 20 years ago. Anyway this man was extremely RUDE, argumentative and no empathy whatsoever and no patience. I remember years ago when the SS offices were always known for the most awful people. It is so sad to see they still do! The man Christopher needs to learn respect for his elders, patience and tolerance. He is also a know it all! I am very upset with the Clarksville office for not hiring or training some properly!
SSI maybe closed in Clarksville but I called them three time's for my mom And the worker on the was nice and very help ful.
