My husband applied for spousal benefits but instead of being interested in his present wife (ME) which he is applying to draw from the ss people wanted a 15 yr ago divorced ex wife info and proof of divorce …..this all begin over 3 months ago and still no spousal benefits after a phone interview, three trips to the ss office in Denton and three calls to ask what is the problem with their processing the info. I would actually not give them a star. We are caring for a house full of grandchildren, me at age 75, he at 66 and needing to keep working to keep us eating. But seems SS cannot get in any hurry on approving spousal benefit no matter how much info and personal info they are given or how many people you talk to. One guy sent us back home to do a tel. interview only because he did not want to deal with doing anything that day pushing us off on someone else. GRRRRR.

My Grand daughter was denied her benefits because of some paperwork that was expedited by mail and the case worker has never answered not returned the phone calls to confirm their receipt. At this point Im going to assume the woman is dead. That would be the only reason that I can see not returning a phone message. I was told that she has been on vacation. This is not an legitimate reason for turning down an applicants benefits. I guess our next step is contact the Atty. General Office and Gov. Abbott. It was one of his compaign promises and I am going to assume he is willing to keep his promise. Clean Up The State Goverment in Texas.
