My husband has just received his first Social Security disability check in August of this year (2016) He has been unable to work since Sept 2014 and under numerous doctors care ever since. How would one appeal for consideration to receive back pay? We were told it was best not to interfere with decision making process until after he received approval - or he would have to wait even longer to start receiving benefits for reconsideration. He needs serious medical attention that we do not have income for..Just yesterday we had to leave a hospital and could not purchase the 3 prescriptions needed until he receives his Social security check this Wednesday - 5 days away. Your advise is appreciated.

Congress will outlaw some Social Security benefits thru the bipartisan budget Act of October 2015, am I going to miss out on any benefits, I should have applied for? Also my spouse is a F/T worker, age 57, how soon can he receive some of my SS benefits?

Nancy Hundley wrote on 20.04.2016 and gave a rating 4 of 5:

I submitted the applications for both my husband and I to sign-up for Medicare. I submitted it on
4-4-2016 at my local SS office in the supplied envelope and mail-drop. I was told it would be processed with 5-6 business days. It has now been 2 1/2 weeks and I haven't heard a thing - "O". What must we do? My husband is retiring at the end of June and we need to set up our health care and supplements.
