I'm close to retirement and need to change my SScard to Gonzalez (birth name). I called and spoke to Joy who told me to mail in originals of DL, birth certificate and divorce decree. I refused and tried to make an appointment at the office in Michigan City, IN. since Social Secutiry is federal. She did not tell me her name and when I gave her my address, she hung up on me. I've been trying for 3 months now to make this last name change from B. to G. I have not liked the responses from the offices I contacted. I will again try to make an appointment to come IN to the office to get things taken care of.
