I have been trying to reach the social security office twice, each time hold time is over an hour. I need information how to proceed since my father passed away and notify social security and Medicare and can't get thru. Can't call the local Waukesha office, no number is listed, which means I'm on hold over an hour just to get appointment. This is just ridiculous. Each time, I had to hang up after 45 minutes. Something better needs to be done here. People do have lives, jobs, etc.

I visited this office on 9/7/18. I needed to get a replacement SS card. I checked in @ 11:53:39 a.m. and I was ticket # N13. The person helping was rude and confrontational. She asked for my identification and I gave her my birth certificate. She held it up and said "just so you know we don't accept this anymore". It was in microfiche form. I asked "where I could find this on the website and she said "because I told you so". Luckily I had have another form of birth certificate with me Every question I asked was answered the same way. When I apologized for something I had filled out wrong she stared me down. I've never experienced something like this before. When I call SS they are polite, friendly and helpful. I wish this person was wearing a name tag because she needs to receive some customer service training.

After struggling with the online social security/Medicare application, a friend suggested that I just go down to the office. I owe him a lunch.

I didn't make an appointment but just showed up on a Monday afternoon. Wait time was less than 10 minutes, even though the waiting room was full.

I was helped by Luis and Cari. They were polite and very knowledgeable. They explained everything and answered all questions. My feelings of being overwhelmed vanished. I'm now enrolled.

Life is good and will be better when retired.

I have turned 65. I have registered for Medicare, but remain on my employer's health care plan. I wish to speak with someone to determine what else I may need to do and what is the best strategy moving forward for Medicare and Claiming SS benefits.

No phone number for local SS office. Just wanted to set appointment. Wait time on hold is annoying especially when all I want to do is set an appointment

Dean Collins wrote on 24.11.2015 and gave a rating 4 of 5:

No phone numbers are provided for local SS offices. Makes it almost impossible to schedule an appointment with the closest SS office. Requires inordinate time listening to music on the 800 number. This is inefficient and a waste of time. Please provide the phone numbers for the local offices.
